I traditionally use this 12 passage set for my 4th-6th graders with levels ranging from 900-1200L. You can spend up to a few days on each passage or breeze through a bit quicker depending on how thorough you would like to be with your students. If you assign one passage a week to your students, you’ll have enough content for 12 weeks! AWESOME for distance learning, students can work through passages in class or as assigned homework. Each passage includes blank response sheets giving students a chance to demonstrate their knowledge of comparing and contrasting for 12 different assignments. The sheets come with a Venn diagram for character organization, finding and defining vocabulary words, answering comprehension questions, and identifying the author’s purpose with short answers.
A blank response sheet is included with each passage and includes:
- Graphic Organizer/Diagram → to compare and contrast details from the text
- Vocabulary Check → define 4 words from the text
- Comprehension Check → answer comprehension questions about the text
- Author’s Purpose → identify the author’s purpose

Answer keys are included for each text passage with filled in response sheets for you to reference. The answer sheets are a great way to assess your student’s understanding of concepts.
